mark YOUR calendars!!

***Please note***

I had a sweet, happy, Thanksgiving-y post all lined up and ready to go for today.

(I’ll be sharing that post on Thanksgiving, which is NOT in line with my schedule but oh well. I’ve got news and it CAN’T wait until next week!)

Without further ado…

THE NEWS:

A while ago, my mom arrived early to pick me up from young adult group. I’m not sure what it was–the determined set of her jaw, the urgency in her stride, but I instantly knew that something was up.

It was.

“Your editor’s called for you twice,” she told me. The noise and chatter of the other kids at my young adult group faded away. My heart started tap-dancing and the butterflies in my stomach stirred.

“She said not to panic,” Mom continued, “but to call her ASAP.”

So I did what any self-respecting author would do.

I panicked.

“She can’t drop me now that the contract’s been signed, can she?” I wailed as we drove home, rain spattering the windshield, the dark night enveloping us. Running through the events of the past days, I couldn’t think of anything that could have incented my editor to call–twice, no less. Except…I had posted those pictures of me dressed up like a gypsy. On Halloween. With a (fake!) nose ring, no less!

What had I been thinking?

When we got home, I launched out of the car in a frenzy and flew inside to find a phone–that’s right. I don’t have a cell phone. Nor do I want one, thank you very much.

I caught my editor just before she went to bed and she filled me in. The news she had for me rocked my world. And now, after a few weeks of formalities, I’m allowed to share it with you!

My book has a new release date…

!!!June 2018!!!

Ahem, yes–as in, June of NEXT YEAR. June, which is only approximately 195 days away. June, which CAN’T COME SOON EHOUGH. (Nah, scratch that one. I’ve got a ton to do before the book release. And Christmas to celebrate. And a cruise to go on.)

This crazy date-change business has thrown me into a whirlwind of planning, prepping, and promoting. I’ve scheduled a blog tour, scouted for endorsements, and started working with a cover designer. (As well as made some cover mock-ups just for fun. One of my attempts is featured here.)

Plus, there are fast-track edits to be completed. Deadlines to meet–deadlines to the tune of “you have ten days to make all of the changes for your copy edit” kind of deadlines.

And on top of all of that–THERE’S BOOK #2 TO FINISH! And edit!

And…I couldn’t be happier.

Because, really, who wants to WAIT until 2019 to buy my book?

I don’t know about you, but I’m about to burst with anticipation. And, now, it’s coming so much sooner! Which means, readers, that I could dearly use your help.

How can you help?

There are ways.

You can follow me on my social media platforms, “like” and “share” my posts, and sign up for my newsletter. If you’re super interested, you can even join my street team to read the book before anyone else. It’s not up and running yet, but sign up for my newsletter to get updates about it–and other things. (Hint–authors LOVE it when people sign up for their newsletters)

By helping me spread the word, you are helping me increase my opportunity for sales. And by doing THAT…you’re helping me succeed as an author.

So, mark your calendars, because Porch Swing Girl will be here before you know it! And check back here because I’ll be posting tons of extras. There’ll be cover reveals, book trailers, exclusive online-only extras…all kind of goodies. Just for you!

So Stay Tuned!

  1. I was chuckling in disbelief and a little chagrin as I read your post and realized I’d caused you to fly into panic mode. That’s why I said it’s not bad news–but I can see why your mind might go there. I’m thrilled it worked out to bring out your book 7 months sooner! I truly believe in this series, and it’s going to be awesome to see it in print.

    1. I’m thrilled, too, Miralee, and I’m so grateful and thankful that you believe in me and Porch Swing Girl. It will be so exciting to hold a physical copy in JUNE–so much earlier than I’d ever thought possible!! And while I did fly into a bit of a frenzy wondering what on earth could be wrong…it makes for a very entertaining story 😉

  2. That’s so exciting, Taylor! I can’t wait to see Porch Swing Girl come out 🙂 Do you know when we might be able to see the cover??
(And your gypsy costume is lovely 😉

  3. Thank you! I’m glad you liked the gypsy costume 😉

As far as a cover reveal…not sure. It’ll be done by mid-January, but I might have to keep it to myself for a while. Make sure you’re signed up for my newsletter, as subscribers will see it first. *Shameless plug complete*

  4. DUDE WHOA I CAN’T BELIEVE THIS!! That is so exciting! As a fellow writer, I can understand the excitement and I’m celebrating with you!
